DMA IN PERFORMANCE

The DMA in Performance is offered in classical guitar, organ, piano, voice, brass and wooodwind instruments, orchestral strings, and percussion. The following outlines the general curriculum for this program (more specific information may be found in the "Graduate Studies in Music" handbook).

Prerequisite: Master of Music degree in performance (or the equivalent) in the chosen area

Major Area
1. applied studies (6 credits)
2. area solo literature (2 credits)
3. area pedagogy (2 credits)
4. dissertation requirement
           a. recital preperation (6 credits)
           b. 4 recitals (4 credits)
           c. document (2 credits)
5. chamber music (2 credits)

Foreign-language requirement (to be satisfied before the Comprehensive
Examination can be scheduled): reading proficiency in French, German,
or Italian.

Ensemble requirement: Minimum of two semesters in an appropriate
instrumental ensemble (MUSC 734).

 

GUITAR

Prerequisite: Master of Music degree in the guitar performance
or the equivalent 32 credits.
