MASTER OF MUSIC IN PIANO PEDAGOGY

Prerequisite: Bachelor's degree (or the equivalent) in piano performance or piano pedagogy

RECITAL TRACK

MUSC 707 Music Bibliography and Research 2 credits
Major Area 19 credits

a) Area studies (9 credits of piano pedagogy and 3 credits of piano literature or pedagogy)

b) Applied piano (6 credits of MUSC 711P)

c) Solo Recital (1 credit)

Music History (as determined by the Music Diagnostic Exam) 3 credits
Music Theory (one 700-level analytical course) 3 credits
Music Electives 5 credits
Total 32 credits

 

THESIS TRACK

MUSC 707 Music Bibliography and Research 2 credits
Major Area 19 credits

a) Area studies (9 credits of piano pedagogy and 3 credits of piano literature or pedagogy)

approved studies in music history, music theory, etc. (minimum of two 700-level courses)

Foreign language requirement for both tracks (to be satisfied before the comprehensive Examination can be scheduled): reading profiecieny in French, German, or Italian.
