at the USC School of Music
Graduate assistantships
are currently available in the following areas
(click the titles to view detailed information about each assistantship):
Assistantships may also be available in jazz, music
education, orchestra, pop vocal ensemble, and vocal pedagogy. Assistantships
for Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone will become available for the
2009-2010 academic year.
The
application
for an assistantship can be downloaded here.
Assistantship duties require up to 20 hours of work
per week. An assistantship award usually includes two award amounts:
a stipend and a tuition supplement. The tuition supplement is automatically
deducted from the tuition charges (all graduate assistants pay graduate
in-state tuition fees). The supplement will be approximately equal
to the tuition charges for 6 graduate credits. Stipends range from
$2,000 to $6,600 per academic year.
An applicant must have been admitted by the Graduate
School as a degree student before being considered for a
graduate assistantship. Interested students are encouraged to complete
and submit the Assistantship application by March 7 for consideration
for the following Fall term. Applications received after March 7
will be considered only if positions are still available. The School
of Music does not offer graduate assistantships during the summer
months.
