Information below applies to undergraduate auditions only.

In addition to submitting a complete application for admission to the University of South Carolina, students wishing to enroll in the School of Music as music majors or minors must audition for the School of Music. The audition serves as both an admissions entrance audition and a scholarship audition. (Please note that music applicants may also schedule a jazz audition and/or an audition on a strong secondary instrument – including voice – for additional music scholarship consideration.)

Students who plan to major in an area other than music, but who wish to participate in USC School of Music ensembles, are also eligible to perform an audition to be considered for music scholarships.

2007-2008 AUDITION SCHEDULE

Saturday, December 1, 2007 - auditions for all areas except saxophone, trumpet, and flute
Saturday, January 26, 2008 - auditions for all areas except violin
Saturday, February 2, 2008 - auditions for all areas except woodwinds, brass, and percussion
Saturday, February 16, 2008 - auditions for woodwinds, brass, percussion, jazz, and strings
Saturday, March 1, 2008 - auditions for all areas except strings and bassoon*

* EVERYONE WHO AUDITIONS ON THIS DATE OR PRIOR TO THIS DATE WILL BE REVIEWED FOR ALL AVAILABLE USC MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS FOR THE 2007-08 ACADEMIC YEAR.
For prospective freshmen at the University of South Carolina: You should have applied for admission to USC before you perform your audition, as the application deadline date for new students who hope to start in fall 2007 is December 1, 2007. Though you should have applied to USC before you audition, you do not need to be accepted prior to your audition; it's OK if your application is still pending when we hear your audition.

For prospective transfer students at the University of South Carolina: Transfer students have more time to apply to USC, as the deadline for transfer students applying for Fall 2008 entry has been set for August 1, 2008. However, transfer students should plan to audition on one of the above dates in order to be reviewed for music admission and music scholarships.

These auditions are not for individual School of Music ensemble placement; these auditions are for those who hope to major or minor in music and for students of all majors who hope to be reviewed for music scholarships.

All auditions are held on the USC campus in Columbia, South Carolina.
