"Beyond
the Notes" at Carolina!
an intensive String
Chamber Music Workshop
June 3-8, 2012
Join string USC string faculty for a five-day intensive chamber
music workshop. The focus will be on developing musicianship skills which go "beyond
the notes" - the listening, rhythmic and ensemble skills that go into making
chamber music. Students will study appropriately assigned repertoire in detail
with faculty members in small chamber ensembles and together in a chamber orchestra,
culminating in a performance on June 10.
Each day will be divided between chamber music coachings, rehearsals, master classes, chamber orchestra and private lessons. We'll also have a jazz strings session with faculty Bert Ligon, director of Jazz Studies at USC.
The workshop is open to high school, and college students.
