Hilton Head International Piano Competition

A Second Prize winner of 2004 UNISA International Piano Competition in Pretoria, South Africa, a winner of Juilliard’s 2003 Gina Bachauer Competition Konstantin Soukhovetski, a Third Prize Winner of 2003 Cleveland International Piano Competition, a First Prize winner at the 2002 Hilton Head International Piano Competition, a Second Prize winner at the 2002 Walter W. Naumburg International Piano Competition, is doing his work on his Master’s degree at the Juilliard School where he is a student of Jerome Lowenthal. Mr. Soukhovetski has got his Bachelor’s from The Juilliard School in 2003 with A. Rubinstein Prize as an outstanding pianist. Mr. Soukhovetski has received 2004 Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for new Americans.

Recent recital engagements include: South Shore Music series, Westport, CT; JCC in Sherman, CT; Music Festival of The Hamptons, NY; St. Peter’s Church, Danbury, CT, Kent State University, OH and Art’s Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Mr. Soukhovetski has performed with Cleveland Orchestra and with Pretoria Symphony, South Africa. He has also given master classes in United States and Puerto Rico this season.

During 2002-03 seasons Mr. Soukhovetski performed with the Hilton Head Orchestra, and gave recitals in Amman, Jordan and Beirut, Lebanon under the auspices of Their Royal Highness Prince Raed and Princess Majda. Mr. Soukhovetski has also performed at Alice Tully Hall, Severance Hall and Jordan Hall in Boston, and at Bolshoi Hall at the Moscow Conservatoire. In October 2003 Mr. Soukhovetski has appeared on WQXR “Young Artist’s Showcase” hosted by Bob Sherman live from Juilliard, and in May 2002, Mr. Soukhovetski was featured in a live performance on National Public Radio’s “Performance Today”.

In 2003 Mr. Soukhovetski has given his debut recital at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.

Before coming to the United States Mr. Soukhovetski has performed extensively in Western Europe and Russia. During 1998 and 1999, he toured and performed with the Russian violinist Vladimir Spivakov in France, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, North America and has appeared as a guest at the “Festival de Colmar” in France.

Mr. Soukhovetski was born in Moscow in 1981 to a family of artists and began playing the piano at age of four. He studied at the Moscow Central School under the auspices of Moscow State Conservatory. While in Moscow, besides piano performance Mr. Soukhovetski was also pursuing composition and acting.

Mr. Soukhovetski spent the summers of 2000-2002 at “Pianofest” in The Hamptons, New York, directed by Mr. Paul Schenly. He is also an alumnus of the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara.
