Music History
faculty

The Music History area of the USC School of Music is staffed by three full-time musicologists: Julia Hubbert, Willie Strong and Peter Hoyt. They are joined by several adjunct faculty, including Luise E. Peake (Ph.D.; Columbia University, 1968) and Jennifer Ottervik (M.S.L.S.; 1992, M.M.; 1995, University of North Texas).

In addition to providing a traditional two-semester survey at the undergraduate level and period surveys at the undergraduate/graduate level, the Music History faculty offer an eclectic array of special-topic seminars at all levels. It is their goal not only to give music students of all areas of specialization a solid knowledge of the history of music, but also to expose them to the most current trends and arguments in the scholarly literature.

The School of Music offers a Master of Music degree in Music History, as well as an undergraduate concentration.
