Dr. Scott Price currently serves as Associate Professor of
Piano, Piano Pedagogy, and Coordinator of Group Piano at the University
of South Carolina School of Music.
He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a Doctor of
Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy-studying piano
with Jane Magrath and piano pedagogy with E. L. Lancaster. A recipient
of the University of Oklahoma Graduate Teaching Assistant Award,
one of five winners in a university-wide competition, he was also
a four-time recipient of the prestigious University of Oklahoma
Kenneth L. Hoving Graduate Fellowship.
A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, Scott Price was
a winner of the CIM Solo Piano Recital Competition and performed
as guest artist at CIM, the Oberlin College Conservatory, and at
Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Concurrent with his studies
at CIM, Scott Price also held the post of Vocal Coach and Repetiteur
with Lyric Opera Cleveland, and served as Music Director for the
Lyric Opera Cleveland Educational Outreach Program. He also served
as an instructor of piano and theory at the Rainey Institute of
the Arts of the Cleveland Music School Settlement. Scott Price has
been a prizewinner in many competitions including two performance
grants from the National Federation of Music Clubs Musical Research
Society Stewart Grant Auditions.
Recent engagements have included performances and clinics at the
national conventions of the Music Teachers National Conference,
Music Teachers National Association, the National Conference on
Piano Pedagogy, the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas TX, Columbia
Museum of Fine Art, South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra, South
Carolina State University, Newberry College, the Newberry Opera
House, the Palmetto Theater in Hampton SC, Bishopville Opera House,
Frances Marion University, Charleston Southern University, Trinity
Cathedral in Columbia SC, Columbia Museum of Art, South Carolina
Philharmonic, the University of Oklahoma Seminar for Piano Teachers,
the North Dakota State Music Teachers Convention, the South Carolina
State Music Teachers Convention, and the Bowling Green State University
Summer Music Institute OH. He serves on the Research Committee of
the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, and the Music Teachers
National Association Independent Music Teacher Assessment Committee.
Dr. Price is creator and co-editor of the on-line piano pedagogy
journal "Piano Pedagogy Forum", has recorded thirteen compact discs
of educational piano music for Alfred Publishing Company, and has
published educational compositions with Alfred Publishing Company
and the FJH Music Company. Special teaching interests of Scott Price
include teaching students with disabilities, very young children,
and teaching keyboard improvisation to beginning to advanced piano
students. His work with disabled students has been featured on WIS
and WLTX and in The State newspaper (SC) and in Columbia Metropolitan
Magazine. Scott Price is the 2002 recipient of the "Best of BGSU
Oustanding Graduate" alumnus award from Bowling Green State University
in Ohio.

Piano Pedagogy Forum
Piano Pedagogy
Forum, created and co-edited by Scott Price, is an arena for
the expression of learned opinions as they focus on the issues that
shape the field of Piano Pedagogy today and into the next millennium.
It is a free publication available to the International Community
wherever there is access to the internet. Piano Pedagogy Forum is
supported by the University of South Carolina School of Music and
is published two times per year. It is not supported by advertisers
or by donors, annual dues or other contributions. Each issue contains
articles concerning the following areas of pianistic art and pedagogy:
Piano Performance, Piano Pedagogy, Group Piano, Keyboard Education,
Keyboard Technology and Collaborative Piano.
