Students must satisfactorily pass the Composition Jury for each
year enrolled in MUSC 516, 716, or 816 Composition.
At the end of each academic year, every student enrolled in MUSC 516,
716 or 816 must complete the composition jury requirement.
The jury process is designed to help the composition faculty track each student's
development as a composer.
To fulfill the composition jury requirement, the student must send the following information to the Composition Program Coordinator via e-mail by the last day of the classes:
- Name and Summer Contact Info.: List your name and a phone number and e-mail adddress where you can be reached over the summer.
- Composition Teacher(s): List all of the composition teachers you have worked with this past year. Be sure to include computer music studies.
- Works List: List of works composed
during the past academic year (title, instrumentation, and approximate duration).
Be sure to include a list of works in progress.
- List of Performances:
A list of performances during the past academic year. Each entry should cite the title of the work, instrumentation, performer name(s)/instrument(s), venue, and date of performance.
- List of Other Compositional Activities: Please be sure
to include participation in off-campus concerts, reading sessions,
summer festivals, and so forth.
Submissions may be sent as pdf attachments (preferred) or as the body text of an e-mail message. Failure to complete the composition
jury process can delay progress toward the completion of the degree.
