The Southern Exposure New Music Series, now in its eighth season under the direction of John Fitz Rogers, regularly performs a variety of recent music as well as classic compositions from the past century. Students, faculty, and professional ensembles have all participated in what has become one of the hallmarks of our program.

The Furious Band reads works by USC student composers.

Composers at USC profit from frequent visits and residencies associated with this concert series. Guests composers include Claude Baker, Martin Bresnick, Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez, Paul Lanksy, Pierre Jalbert, Marc Mellits; and guest esembles include Alarm Will Sound, Amernet String Quartet, Ciompi String Quartet, Ensemble X, Furious Band, Gamalan Galak Tika, International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), Los Angeles Piano Quartet, New York Lyric Chamber Players, Odd Appetite, Music from Copland House, Real Quiet, and So Percussion.
