Alarm Will Sound

Saturday, January 29, 2005 7:30 p.m.
USC School of Music Recital Hall

Concert Description
Hailed by the New York Times as "brilliant" and "the future of classical music," the dynamic and vituosic young orchestra Alarm Will Sound is a 20-member band committeed to innovative performances and recordings of today's music. On January 29, they'll present an electrifying program on USC's Southern Exposure series just two weeks before making their Carnegie Hall debut. With diverse experience in composition, improvisation, jazz and popular styles, early music, and world musics, Alarm Will Sound brings intelligence, versatility, and a sense of adventure to all their performances. Their Southern Exposure concert features a remarkable range of works, from modernist classics by composers such as Edgard Varèse and John Cage, to pop-influenced works by John Cale, Frank Zappa, and Richard James (a.k.a. Aphex Twin). There is truly no other ensemble like them in the world, so please join us for what promises to be a unique, genre-bending, and incredible concert!
