Graduate Programs

OPERA at USC offers a truly comprehensive program for graduate students, covering every facet of opera production, both on stage and behind the scenes. Singers, directors, pianists, conductors, and theatrical technicians all get both expert teaching and intensive "hands-on" experience in their respective crafts.

OPERA at USC provides two tracks for graduate training: one for singers and the other for stage directors, each leading to the degree of Master of Music in Opera Theater. OPERA at USC is one of only a handful of colleges and universities nationwide that offer special traning and practice for aspiring opera stage directors. Additionally, singers may choose to pursue a Master's degree in Performance or an Artist Certificate in Voice. Finally, students pursuing the Doctorate of Musical Arts (DMA) in Voice are encouraged to take the graduate Opera Workshop and to audition for parts in OPERA at USC productions.

For application materials and information, please contact Professor Dr. Andrew Gowan., Director of Graduate Studies, USC School of Music.
