The mission of USCs Symphony Orchestra is to provide the
Midlands community with culturally stimulating programming, offer
young music students the opportunity to perform with world class
soloists and enhance our standard of excellence. It is not embellishment
to suggest that this talented student ensemble, under the superb
direction of Dr. Donald Portnoy, has become one of the premier university
orchestras in the South.
The USC School of Music supports the orchestra to the best of its
ability, yet this provides only a modest sustenance, since the School's
budget must also support every other music activity in its domain.
Since revenue from ticket sales covers only a small portion of what
it costs to present Symphony concerts and education programs, the
Symphony relies on outside sources to bridge the gap between operating
expenses and revenues. To that end, the USC Symphony is asking you
to consider joining others in supporting our artistic and educational
endeavors by making a gift to the USC Symphony.
With your support, the USC Symphony can pursue at the admirable
presentation level it has developed for itself; to continue booking
first rate soloists and to continue presenting programs that include
challenging repertory for the student musicians and for the patrons
who applaud their work. Your donation would also allow us to continue
presenting programs that contribute to the cultural education of
both the University and the general communities.
Please take a moment to learn about the programs you can support
and the benefits of joining one of the inner circles of the USC
Symphony Orchestra donor community.
