Palmetto Pans Steel Band
T he
Palmetto Pans is a steel drum band devoted to performing the
music of Trinidad and Tobago as well as Island Classics and
popular music. The group consists of 12-18 members coming
from all academic displines throughout the univeristy community.
The musicians perform on 55-gallon oil drums that have been
transformed into musical instruments. Each semester, the ensemble
presents a concert in the USC School of Music, as well as
performing at community events, schools and private parties.
The Palmetto Pans is also on the annual roster of the Wednesdays
at Trinity Series and was selected by the South Carolina Arts
Commission for its 2001-2003 Community Tour.
The Palmetto Pans if offered as a class through the School of Music
and is open to all university students with the permission of the
instructor. If you are intersted in joining the Palmetto Pans or
