The amount allocated for each area is inclusive of all expenses (artist fee, accompanist, transportation, lodging, meals, etc.).

Opportunities to host guest artists in a given discipline during a non-designated year need to be discussed and agreed upon within a given area.

Responsibilities:

To guarantee the full funding authorized per each area in a specific academic year, requests for guest artists must be submitted to the dean in writing no later than October 15.  Funding that is not authorized to specific guest artists by October 15 may be applied by the dean to support other guest artist opportunities/requests that arise during the academic year.

The hosting faculty member will be responsible for:
1.     contacting  the guest(s)
2.     agreeing upon dates, services, fees*
3.     informing the dean of items 1 and 2 so that a letter of agreement can be initiated (see MASTER CLASS/LECTURE SERIES Request Form below)
4.     hosting/transporting the guest during visit
5.     addressing all logistical issues (classroom reservations, publicity, programs, etc.)

*In many cases, it is easiest to agree upon a fee of $1,000 inclusive.  In other words, USC will pay $1,000.  The guest is responsible for all expenses (travel, room, etc).  If USC will be paying expenses, the guestŐs fee will need to be significantly less than $1,000.

The dean will be responsible for:

1.     issuing letter of agreement based upon information supplied by the hosting faculty member

The business manager and/or dean's assistant will be responsible for:
1.     making airline reservations (when appropriate)
2.     making hotel reservations
3.     paying the guest
4.     settling all costs associated with the guestŐs visit
