FACILITIES
AND EQUIPMENT
Updated
copies of usage calendars for rooms 206 (recital hall), 006 (choral
rehearsal, 016 (instrumental rehearsal), 209 (music technology center),
classrooms, conference and seminar rooms are available under "School
of Music Room Schedules"
on the School of Music website. Procedures
for the scheduling of student recitals is available from Mrs. Gibson.
Room
reservations and key issue:
- Dr. Gowan is in charge
of scheduling regular classes, incidental classroom use, and all usage
by outside groups.
- Laveta Gibson is
in charge of scheduling rehearsals and performances of USC Faculty
and students
in the Recital Hall.
- Laveta Gibson can schedule
rooms #123 (conference room) and #201 (seminar room).
- Ms. Wilcox, receptionist,
is in charge of scheduling individual and small ensemble practice
rooms (015, 012, 007, 008). She also issues keys for these rooms.
- Tim Crenshaw handles
the issuing of keys for studios, classrooms, 006, 016 and Recital
Hall.
Instruments:
Stringed and wind instruments are available for rental to students on
a semester-by-semester basis. Faculty are reminded that:
(1) students requiring the use of an instrument must be registered for
the appropriate course in which the instrument will be used, and (2)
students must receive written approval from a faculty member (either
the teacher of the course in which the instrument is used or the applied
faculty who teaches the instrument) before receiving the instrument.

Other
equipment:
Problems
with computer equipment should be reported by using the Music Computing
Hotline (7-0124). Problems with classroom or studio audio/visual
equipment should be reported to Jeff Francis (7-6406). Problems
with the facility (temperature, lights, etc.) may be reported to Tim
Crenshaw (7-4279) or Andrew Gowan (7-2838).
Security:
Campus
phones are located on the first floor across from the elevators on the
Lobby (east) end of the building and on the basement level on the east
and west ends of the main corridor. The three campus security
call boxes are located in the driveway area outside the lobby, outside
the north entrance on College Street, and at the loading dock (west
end of the building).
Several doors are for emergency
use only and will sound an alarm when opened. Each of these doors will
be clearly identified by warning signs. The following areas have
been equipped with security alarm systems connected directly to the
USC Police Office: 1) Administrative suite; 2)
Music Library; 3) Music Technologies Center; 4) Recording Control Room;
5) both Computer Music Studios; and 6) Instrumental Storage/Repair.
Access to these spaces is by special code only.
