Currently principal oboist of the South Carolina
Philharmonic, Rebecca Nagel has performed as a soloist with the
Philharmonic in Mozart’s Concerto in C for Oboe, Krommer's
Concerto in F and J.S. Bach’s Concerto in A for Oboe D’Amore.
Her performance of the Mozart concerto was praised for it’s “cleanly
articulated phrasing, special sense of lyric ease in the slow movement,
and beguiling tone color throughout”
by The State (Columbia, SC). Her latest CD, "Synthetic Dances",
featuring solo and chamber music of Allan Blank, Libby Larsen,
Hendrik Andriessen and John Valerio was released on the Centaur label.
Ms. Nagel performs frequently with the Greenville and Charleston
Symphonies, and is Professor of Music at the University of South
Carolina. Ms. Nagel participated as a Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox, Massachusetts, the Sarasota Music Festival, the Bach Aria Festival, and the Yale Chamber Music Festival. A native of Chicago, Ms. Nagel received a B.M. degree from Lawrence University, M.M. degree from Yale University, and a D.M.A. degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook where she studied with Ronald Roseman. Ms. Nagel has performed in master classes with Robert Bloom, Ray Still, Richard Killmer, and Richard Woodhams. |
